The IONATE Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the appointment of tech leader and energy entrepreneur Jeff Tolnar as its new Chair.
An electrical engineer by background, Jeff brings a growth-mindset fuelled by decades of industry leadership to the IONATE board. He has held both Senior Officer positions at Fortune 500 companies and co-founded startups, participating in three successful exits and five acquisitions.
He joins IONATE while sitting as President and Interim CEO of Shoals Technologies Group, Inc.. His recent roles include Chief Commercial Officer for Shell | Greenlots and President of Global Software Solutions for Honeywell’s Homes, Buildings and Utilities businesses.
Of joining IONATE, Jeff said:
“I am honoured to become IONATE’s Chairman. In the past 20 years within the energy sector, I have not seen many offerings with the potential to create such a difference towards meeting the needs of the current energy transition. The global grid is stressed by increasing energy demand driven by eMobility, growth of distributed renewables, and the need for ever increasing clean power for our digital economy. IONATE’s Hybrid Intelligent Transformer technology is a timely grid innovation which provides cleaner and more efficient power to electric utilities and commercial industrial companies. I’m thrilled to help Matthew and team grow and scale IONATE.”
IONATE’s Founder & CEO Matthew Williams welcomed him, saying:
“We are delighted to have Jeff join us at such an exciting time for IONATE. His impressive calibre and industry network will be invaluable for our next phase of growth. But importantly, he has the innovator gene that we all share at IONATE. He is the kind of expert who understands the energy transition’s pain points but sees them as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for systemic change. I’m looking forward to working with him as IONATE continues to pass key technology milestones and gets ready for transforming power systems globally.”
